Children's Story HourBarrington Books' children's story hour is Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. for children 2-5 years of age (all ages are welcome) and is hosted by children's book author Anika Denise. All books are selected and read by Anika each week with a craft to follow. Anika is author of the popular children's book "Pigs Love Potatoes" and also writes a weekly article called Bookmarks for the local newspaper. Bookmarks covers topics on various children’s books, themes, authors and illustrators. Story Hour at Barrington Books was honored with a 2009 Editor’s Pick in Rhode Island Monthly’s “Best of Rhode Island” issue. To check it out Click Here! Last week, the children had a special request for DINOSAUR BOOKS. Since we aim to please at story hour, we’ll be reading about the extinct (Woops! Shhh, they don't know they're extinct, thanks to these fabulous picture books) ...ahem, I mean, the distinct creatures.
And just as a recommendation: If you have kids at home starting to read on their own, “Danny And The Dinosaur,” by Syd Hoff is a classic and one of our all time favorite “I Can Read” Books. Two years ago, it was re-released in a 50th Anniversary edition. You can find it, along with many other great “I Can Read” titles, on the shelves at Barrington Books! So don’t miss this specially-requested stompin’, chompin’, rompin’ dinosaur story hour, this Thursday, March 4th, at 10:30am. See you in the story corner!
